Terms of Use & Community Guidelines
Effective 11 August 2026 · Web version updated 26 September 2026
These Terms apply to the Neighbourly app, website and related services. They are written for Neighbourly's current Greater Accra discovery service, including user accounts, reviews, business claims, owner tools and AI-assisted discovery.
1. About Neighbourly
Neighbourly is a neighbourhood discovery service focused initially on Greater Accra, Ghana. It helps users discover local businesses and services, view available business information, save places, contribute reviews, use AI-assisted discovery features, contact businesses and continue to third-party directions. Neighbourly also provides approved business owners or authorised representatives with tools to claim and manage supported listing information.
2. Acceptance of these Terms
By creating an account, accessing or using Neighbourly, you agree to these Terms of Use and the Community Guidelines below. If you do not agree, do not use the service. The Privacy Policy explains how personal information is handled.
3. Accounts and account security
You are responsible for information you provide through your account and for taking reasonable steps to protect your device, sign-in credentials and authentication codes. Do not share passwords or authentication codes with Neighbourly support or other users. You must not access another person's account without permission, create accounts for abusive or deceptive purposes, or attempt to bypass authentication or security controls.
4. Local business information
Neighbourly works to provide useful local information, but business details can change. Names, addresses, contact details, opening hours, availability, prices, services and other information may become outdated or may originate from businesses, public sources, users or administrative research. Users should confirm important information directly with the relevant business before relying on it. Inclusion in Neighbourly does not by itself constitute endorsement, certification or a guarantee of quality.
5. Location and directions
Location features may use device location, with permission, to support nearby discovery and distance information. Directions may be handed off to a third-party mapping application. Location, distance and route information can be approximate. Users remain responsible for assessing travel, accessibility and personal safety.
6. Reviews, ratings and user content
Where Neighbourly allows you to publish reviews, ratings or other content, you remain responsible for what you submit. You grant Neighbourly a non-exclusive permission to host, display, reproduce and technically process that content as reasonably necessary to operate, moderate, secure and improve the service.
Reviews should reflect genuine experiences and should not contain fabricated claims, harassment, threats, unlawful material, spam, confidential information or personal information that you do not have the right to publish. Neighbourly may review, restrict, remove or preserve content when reasonably necessary to enforce these Terms, respond to reports, protect users or businesses, maintain platform integrity, investigate misuse or comply with legal obligations.
7. Business claims and owner access
Only eligible business owners, business managers or authorised representatives should submit a claim for a listing. Claimants must provide accurate information and must not submit altered, stolen, misleading or fraudulent evidence. Supporting documents may be reviewed before owner access is granted.
Approval of a claim gives access only to the supported management functions provided by Neighbourly. It does not transfer ownership of Neighbourly's platform, database structure or intellectual property. Neighbourly may request additional evidence, reject a claim, revoke owner access or investigate a claim if ownership or authority is disputed or if platform integrity may be affected.
8. Verified status
If Neighbourly displays a “Verified” status or similar trust indicator, that status reflects the verification process defined by Neighbourly at that time. A business being listed, active or successfully claimed does not automatically mean it is Verified. Verification is not a guarantee of a business's products, services, conduct, safety or future performance.
9. Neighbourly AI
Neighbourly includes AI-assisted discovery features intended to help interpret natural-language requests and explain or surface relevant local options. AI-generated or AI-assisted responses may be incomplete, inaccurate or outdated and should not be treated as professional, medical, legal, financial, emergency or safety advice. Controlled business information remains the source of truth within Neighbourly for supported business identity, location, contact information, hours and Neighbourly ratings. Important information should be confirmed directly with the business.
10. Prohibited use
You must not use Neighbourly to break the law; impersonate another person or business; submit fraudulent business claims; harass, threaten or exploit others; publish hateful or unlawfully discriminatory content; expose private or confidential information without authority; distribute malware; scrape or harvest data in a manner that harms the service; interfere with security controls; probe for vulnerabilities without written permission; manipulate ratings or reviews; send spam; automate abusive activity; or use the platform in a way that materially disrupts other users or Neighbourly's systems.
11. Community Guidelines
Be genuine
Contribute reviews and information based on real experiences. Do not create fake reviews, coordinated rating manipulation or misleading endorsements.
Respect people and businesses
Criticism of a genuine experience is permitted, but harassment, threats, targeted abuse, doxxing and content intended primarily to intimidate others are not.
Protect privacy
Do not publish passwords, authentication codes, private identification documents, private addresses, financial details or other sensitive information belonging to another person.
Do not impersonate or misrepresent authority
Do not pretend to represent a business, individual or Neighbourly if you are not authorised to do so. Business claim information must be truthful.
Keep content relevant and lawful
Do not use reviews or support features for unrelated advertising, repetitive spam, scams, malicious links or unlawful content.
Reporting and moderation
Users and businesses may report content or account concerns through available Neighbourly support or reporting tools. A report does not guarantee removal. Neighbourly may consider the content, available evidence, context, platform rules and applicable obligations when deciding what action to take.
12. Intellectual property
Neighbourly's name, branding, logo, interface, original website and app materials, software, platform design and other protected materials belong to Neighbourly or their respective licensors. These Terms do not grant users ownership of those materials. Third-party business names, trademarks, photographs and other materials remain the property of their respective owners where applicable.
13. Third-party services
Neighbourly relies on third-party technology and may link or hand off to third-party services, including authentication, cloud infrastructure, AI processing, location, mapping or communication services. Those services may operate under their own terms and privacy practices. Neighbourly is not responsible for the independent operation of third-party services outside its reasonable control.
14. Availability and changes
Neighbourly may add, modify, suspend or discontinue features as the product develops. The service may occasionally be unavailable because of maintenance, network conditions, third-party outages, security work or other operational reasons. Neighbourly does not promise uninterrupted availability.
15. Enforcement, suspension and termination
Neighbourly may restrict content, suspend features, revoke business-owner access, suspend accounts or terminate access when reasonably necessary to address serious or repeated violations, fraud, security threats, unlawful conduct, platform abuse or risks to users or the service. Where appropriate and practicable, context and available evidence may be reviewed before enforcement.
16. Account deletion
Users may request account deletion through available in-app controls or the public Delete Account page. Deletion and retention are handled as described in the Privacy Policy and Delete Account information. Some information may be retained where reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, dispute resolution or legitimate record-keeping.
17. Disclaimers
Neighbourly is a discovery service. To the extent permitted by applicable law, the service and its information are provided on an “as available” basis. Neighbourly does not guarantee that every listing, review, AI-assisted response, opening status, price, service description or other item of information will always be complete, accurate or current. Users should independently confirm information that is important to their decisions.
18. Responsibility and liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes rights or liabilities that cannot lawfully be excluded. To the extent permitted by applicable law, Neighbourly is not responsible for losses arising solely from a user's independent transaction or interaction with a third-party business, reliance on information that reasonably required confirmation, or the independent operation of third-party services. Neighbourly does not act as the seller, employer, agent or guarantor of businesses listed in the service unless expressly stated otherwise.
19. Changes to these Terms
Neighbourly may update these Terms and Community Guidelines when the product, rules, business operations or legal requirements change. The effective or update date will be revised when material changes are made. Continued use after an applicable update may be subject to the revised Terms.
20. Applicable law and disputes
These Terms are intended to operate under applicable laws of Ghana, subject to any mandatory rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be limited. If you have a concern, you are encouraged to contact Neighbourly first so the issue can be reviewed and, where possible, resolved directly.
